I am a part-time sales executive at a multinational computer hardware selling showroom. I had to remain busy last month, on 24th to be more specific, as there was a huge pressure on sales. In fact, it was the greatest sale of the year as the company declared a 50 percent off with all of its products marking its 50th anniversary
The sale began from the morning after the shop was opened. People rushed into the showroom. As I am a part-timer, I came in the afternoon and the sales pressure began. I have never seen such a rush in the shop before. A wide number of people arrived in the outlet and purchased their necessary items. They were happy with the reduced amount of the products. And it was really a happy event for them that they are having the pricy products within half of the price. Even some of the customers have bought a pair of products and gadgets
I had to serve the clients and provide them with the necessary guidance. Besides, I was responsible for checking the stealing. Last year, the shop authority had experienced the events of stealing and thus they are aware of the issue this year. They asked me to be much careful. Besides, I was also responsible for welcoming the customers and clients at the shop and show them the necessary things they are in need of. But I also had to do some other tasks simultaneously. I had to organise the disorderly products, keep the inventory neat and clean and the other relevant tasks. So, to complete all the required tasks, I had to remain busy always. Further, I had to move from here and there inside the shop to take care of the entire responsibilities
It was hard for me to manage the entire activities. In fact, I became tired of performing the duties one after another. But, I had no ways left except doing the duties until my duty hours were over. I had passed a hefty day indeed. I followed a structure to manage the activities. Firstly, I checked the monitors of CCTV to check if everything was going right. When I found no suspicious activities, then I came out of the monitoring room. Meeting and greeting the clients was the second step of my responsibility. So, I had to wait beside the main entrance to greet the potential clients. When someone entered the shop, I welcomed them and asked to assist them by showing the products and appliances available at the shop. When they selected their necessary product or appliance, my duty was over and I handed them to another sales executive
Initially, I felt that I want a relief. But being a busy person has some interesting benefits. When someone becomes busy with any activity, time passes smoothly. It appears that time flies away in those moments. I was unable to track the time yesterday. I entered the shop at 4.00pm and my duty ended at 10.00pm. In other days, time does not want to pass but the experience was completely different last night. Besides, meeting with newer people and describing them about the advantages and features of the products was really interesting and enjoyable. In the other ordinary days, there is no such rush of sales and working hours appear dull. I really enjoyed the busy working hours and want to remain busy always like that day
