The graph gives information about litracy rates in two countrys over a period of sevral centuries, from 1700 until 2000.While the literacy rates in both countrys incresed in each century, the rates in Country Y remained higher than in Country X in every year shown
In 1700, more than 40 percent of the popalation in Country Y was literate. In Country X, however, a much smaller percenage of the people could read. In fact, the litracy rate was amost zero. Allthough the number of people who could read grew in both contrys over the next centuries, the litrcy rate in Country X remained low. By 1 900 only about 30 percent of the people in that country could read, while the litrcy rate in Country Yin the same year was well over 80 percent
By 2000, the last year shown on the graph, 100 percent of the people in Country Y could read. The litrcy rate in Country X had reeched 80 percent, but this was still low as eompard with Country Y
